Medical Robots

Feature: Instrument-tray arm

Collaborative robot arm holding a covered instrument tray over a procedure table

A medical robot on this page does a narrow job. It holds a sealed instrument tray and presents it at the table. The people in the room keep the clinical decisions. The robot's feature is a steady arm and a clean interface, so the tray arrives at the same height every time.

Define the handoff

Name what the arm is allowed to touch. A covered tray, a sealed pack, a cart. Keep the path inside the room and clear of the table when a person is working there.

Choose the arm and the mount

A collaborative arm with a simple tray gripper fits a bright equipment room. The mount has to be wiped down. Cables stay off the floor. The photo shows that layout: tray up, table clear, supplies on a side cart.

Test the motion before anyone relies on it

Run the path with an empty tray, then with the real weight. Stop the arm if a person steps into the zone. Train the staff who load the tray and the staff who take it. Maintenance is cleaning the gripper and checking that the tray still sits level.
